MLB standings 2022: Up to date playoff bracket, magic numbers as of Sept. 24

Because the 2022 MLB season is coming to an in depth, the postseason image is starting to take focus.

The Dodgers have run away with the NL West and are only a few video games away from clinching the No. 1 seed within the Nationwide League. The Astros have already wrapped up the AL West and want to keep the highest seed within the American League.

However a number of postseason spots stay open. Entrance and middle is the race for the NL East, with the Mets and Braves seemingly buying and selling positions within the standings every day as they give the impression of being to solidify their place as one of many division winners.

MLB magic numbers for 2022

Because the season begins to wind down, these are at all times the numbers everybody needs to know. What number of extra video games will it take for groups to clinch postseason positions?

The maths behind magic numbers is not sophisticated. It is subtracting one group’s wins and the losses of a trailing group from 163. So, for instance, if a group main the division has 90 wins and a group trailing them within the standings has 63 losses, the magic quantity can be 10.
