Center Object Inkscape. To center choose center on vertical axis: Enable snap to nodes, and snap to guides.

By the dropdown near relative to:, select last selected. Press ctrl + g to group the object with itself, thus giving a new rotation point for the group at the center of the single object. Make sure “treat selection as a group” is selected if you want objects to stay spaced from each other.

Turn On Snapping To Objects' Rotational Center, Toxi, 5Th Button From Bottom In Snapping Toolbar.

Press ctrl + u to ungroup and thus restore the original rotation point. Using the select and transform tool (f1)*, reposition the text so that it's centred. Open the align and distribute menu.

The Alignment Will Be Applied Immediately.

Center on vertical axis and. Use a guide to mark the centre of the bottom segment so it snaps to the middle node you added. In the right hand side you should get the align and distribue box.

Switch To The Node Tool.

To align the left of the text choose align left edge to right edge of anchor: Holding down ctrl after you start clicking and dragging will constrain the move horizontally. This will cause your rectangle to disappear, and guides to appear in its place.
