Vern was born Oct. 4, 1928, to Joe and Mary Keller Ostovich. He was raised within the household residence on Route 170, on the lot which is now occupied by Aqua Water Firm.

Along with his dad and mom, Vern was preceded in demise by his brothers, Adam, Joe and Ted Ostovich.
