POLAND — Thomas Andrew Krestel, 71, handed away at his residence surrounded by his household, Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 20, 2022, after a brave one-year battle with pancreatic most cancers.

On Oct. 10, 1950, Tom was introduced into the world by his grandfather, Dr. Henry Helling. He was born in Ellwood Metropolis, Pa., to John and Jeane Helling Krestel.

Raised in Ellwood Metropolis, Tom was a graduate of Lincoln Excessive College, Class of 1968. He went on to obtain his bachelor’s diploma in academic research from Geneva Faculty. His employment as a disc jockey for WFEM in Ellwood Metropolis led him to show broadcasting on the Struthers Excessive College radio station, WKTL. As well as, Tom served as athletic director, and coached boys basketball, ladies basketball and ladies softball. He retired from Struthers Excessive College in 2011, after 30 years of service.

An adoring husband, father and grandfather, Tom leaves to cherish his reminiscence, his spouse of virtually 43 years, Linda Wilt, whom he married Oct. 6, 1979; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Dan Caldwell of Boardman; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Brittany Krestel of Struthers; two sisters, Helen “Pudy” (Kenneth “Biff”) Pander of Ellwood Metropolis, Pa. and Rebecca Marcella of Poland; sister-in-law, Patty (Andrew) Wanca of West Mifflin, Pa.; brother-in-law, Dale (Lisa) Wilt of Poland; 5 grandchildren, Zac, Alex, and Maddie Caldwell, and Jackson and William Krestel; six nieces, Shelly (Brian) Reiser and Missy (Harry) Frelin, all of Ellwood Metropolis, Pa., Lisa (Michael) O’Leary of Michigan, and Amber, April and Audrey Wanca, all of West Mifflin, Pa.; and one nephew, Paul Marcella of New Fortress, Pa.

Along with his mother and father, Tom was preceded in loss of life by his brother, John Krestel; and father and mother-in-law, Dale and Carol Wilt.

Pals shall be acquired from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, on the Davidson-Becker Funeral House, 11 Spring St., and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., each in Struthers.

A funeral service celebrating Tom’s life will observe at 11 a.m. Saturday on the church, with Pastor James Berkebile officiating. Interment will observe in Poland Riverside Cemetery.
